iPhone- What's all the Fuss?

Will people really be saying "what's the fuss about?" when it comes to the iPhone in a few years?  I find this very hard to believe.  Apple just seems to have a way to create more hype than most any other company in the marketplace today.  The article points out that Q4 2012, more than half of the iPhones purchased were older models- being sold at deep discounts.  Is appetite for the iPhone waning or are people not interested in spending money on the latest & greatest when the latest doesn't quite have enough to distinguish it from the previous latest & greatest?

Apple has done such a good job building their brand reputation so that it truly stands out from all of its competitors.  One of the contributing factors is the price of goods.  For better or worse, Apple products are expensive for most consumers and opting for the iPhone over another smartphone may not be worth it to some.

It will certainly be interesting to see in which direction Apple takes the iPhone next.

    1. Are you not a fan of smartphones or have you simply chosen to boycott the iPhone? In your opinion, do you think Android will overtake Apple in the race for the most users of its devices?

  2. Iphones at best is a incremental increase in technology. That could be said about many products that are the "must have products of today's life". If you are looking for products that makes what is called Great leaps forward that just doesn't seem to happen much. Having said that, one has to remember that many of these products have made life much easy as healthier for many of us, including myself. Several other manufactures are making products like the IPhones that has the same number (if not more) of bells and whistles but doesn't have the big hip bandwagon. That could be said about many products like Duracell battery that has that wonderful Pink Rabbit

    1. This is a really good point... Do you think that the 'jump on the bandwagon' mentality is as prevalent among different generations or do you think this is more something affecting younger generations? I know you are a technology lover- what's your take on Smartphones in general?

  3. The sales of the smartphones are like so many other products that are being sold. There is what is called a herd mentality whereby one or more individuals purchase a product and others see the benefits or the excitement of the products and they run down to the local store and purchase one. Is this bad? I guess you can think of the first individuals that make the purchase as a walking advertisement whereby it makes it so much easier for others to view the products and have it explained by friends. Friends usually like to make the product seem better because they don't want others to think they made a bad purchase. I think this is more prevalent for younger people.
